Joshua's rainy and wonderful 7th birthday

Last weekend we celebrated Joshua's 7th birthday at Mill Pond Park. Josie, Josh, and I got there early to set up. It was raining. But we got to spend some time with the swans.

The kids fed them grass. Looking down river, we saw another swan. We didn't think that anybody would show up to the party because it was raining, but right on time, we had a bunch of our friends arrive. And they kept coming!

We had paper boat races. The boats quickly turned into floating clumps of mushy paper, but that didn't seem to stop the kids. Even in the rain, they were having a great time playing in the river.

Right about now it started raining pretty hard. The kids ran into the forest along the trails. It was great to watch so many children having such a great time together.

After the kids took a break to have popsicles - Josh preferred popsicles to cake this year - they headed over to the large play structure. If anyone was still dry, they didn't stay that way for long.

The kids kept going!

And going. . . .

By the time everyone had to go home, everybody was soaked and smiling. It turned out to be a really great, rainy, wonderful birthday.

Happy birthday, Joshua. We love you!
