TV Time Gone Wrong? You Decide.

So, this is Astro boy. He's a robot that looks like a boy, without a shirt. I'm still not sure if he's flying around in his underpants or if those are shorts. Anyway, the kids have taken a liking to him recently, and he's a likeable enough boy, but we've been watching a little too much of him.

During the school year the kids have about 30 minutes of TV time after school each day. Sometimes amid the excitement they forget about it entirely. During the summer, it's a little different. The TV is on more. As we get ready for school to begin, Mama talked with the kids about putting the TV away (it's a 13-inch TV/DVD combo that we keep in the closet) and reestablishing TV time. They were, of course, fine with that.

Later that day as they were watching Astro boy, Josie turned to Mama and said - are you ready for this - "The thing I like about Astro boy is that he helps his enemies, like Jesus." Josh, without taking his eyes from the TV agreed, "Yeah." Horrified? I actually think it shows that Josie is able to see some of the things that she admires about Jesus in other people, it may not be important to her that those people are cartoons. Anyway, I'm proud of my little girl for helping us find Jesus in unexpected places, like Astro boy.

Thanks, Josie!
