We've gone back to one of our favorite places - Josie's Cove - alot this summer. It's a nice little place tucked in among some trees and water. I can't believe we only have one month left until school starts. Summer goes by way too fast.
When we arrived Isaac was very excited about a crawfish he found on the edge of the stream. He yelled, "Papa, catch it! Crawfish!" We all ran over there to find a pile of ants eating a mostly dead crawfish. We talked about how it might have died, compared its coloring to the crawfish at the lake, and tossed it back into the stream.
It's great to see the kids just relax together during the summer. I love it when we're all together. Isaac does too. When he was younger he would get up in the morning and ask where everyone was, by name. If they were sleeping he'd go into their bedrooms and wake them up. Thankfully, that only happened a few times. Even now, Isaac notices when people in our family are missing, and he asks for them. You should see him during our Pizza, Popcorn, Movie, Game Nights with our friends. When we have up to 20 kids between 2-8 years old in the house Isaac is living in dreamland with the company. He gets people food, brings them water, and talks and plays, and laughs. It's like he has this giant family. It's really great to see.
Josie got this great picture of Adam. You can see him talking with his pacifier. Isaac never took one and he talks very well - maybe too well. But Adam is taking his time, maybe because of the paci. "Help me," sounds just like, "Happy." It took us a while to figure that one out. He would be asking for help - "Help me" - and we would say, "That's right, Adam. You're a happy little boy." When he started yelling that he was "Happy," we realized he wasn't saying what we thought he was saying.
Even Jacob gets into the spirit of adventure, crawling around, exploring the place. He looks so small outside by himself. Sometimes he buries his face into the sand and kind of rubs it around. Josh did the same thing when he was little. We're not sure what's going on with that, but they both seem to enjoy it.
Mama took this great shot of our little Jacob. He's standing up now and having a great time pulling himself up all over the house. Every once in a while we'll hear cheers from a corner of the house and one of the kids will run in and announce that Jacob stood up "all by himself!" He's going to be walking soon.
