Yesterday morning Josie and Josh went running with me. Josie really liked it. Josh didn't. He said, "I'm never doing that again." He didn't like the mosquitos, or the humidity, I think. We got started a little late, so we didn't see any animals.
But later that morning at Josie's Cove they saw the same two swans and 5 cygnet (baby swans)! They fed them and Josh touched one. They said it was really cool. Josie said that the swans were as big as Isaac!
Josie asked that I wake her up early this morning to go running with me, so I did. Josh decided to go too. I guess he changed his mind. The three of us sneaked out of the house and walked to the meadow. It was very quiet. Josie and Josh noticed that the world smells different in the morning. On the way we saw two rabbits.
When we got to there, the fog was back, hanging over the meadow. The kids loved it. Josh was wide-eyed. Josie smiled. She said, "I like the way the grass feels on my feet. It's cold." She wiggled her toes. We saw two more rabbits right away and then a skunk. It had its nose in the grass. We walked slowly past it, but it saw us and raised its tail. They thought that was great. We talked about skunks.
By the time we got home it seemed that Josh had changed his mind. He told Mama, "That was really cool. I want to go again!" It's great being out early with Josie and Josh. Josie seems so peaceful.
