A Great Day

Yesterday Josie came home from school and said, "Today was a great day." I love it when that happens. Today is also a great day.

First, Joshua won a paper airplane contest at Trader Joe's. We all went there early this morning before school to pick up his bag full of tasty Trader Joe's treats. He plans on sharing them today with all of his friends after school.

Don't you just love his smile. I told him to imagine his airplane soaring through the sky. Josie took the picture.

This is the prize-winning airplane. It's simple, and well-built. Good work, Josh!

The second reason that this is a great day is because it marks 10 years since Michelle and I got married. Over that time, we've lived in four states, attended three universities, had five (almost six) incredible children, and created a whole lot of great memories.

This was our wedding announcement picture from 2000. We've changed a bit since then, but boy have we had a great ride! I still think that I married an amazing woman.

Michelle's commitment to this family is incredible. She's the anchor; the rock that keeps us grounded in the simple, beautiful things of life. She's also constantly moving us onward and upward by helping us be better, more kind and loving people. Michelle, you make me and our children happy. I love you.
