Josie, we love you

It has been great having the kids home so much over the summer. Although I'm still working long hours on the dissertation, I try to sneak away from time to time to go to the pool or the lake or the park with everybody. Recently, I've been noticing what a responsible, sweet daughter and big sister Josie is.

She is a great example to her little brothers. With the birth of the new baby boy it will be Josie and five boys. I can't think of a better suited big sister. Here she is during a Book of Mormon party. We finished reading it and celabrated by selecting a character, dressing up, and talking about why we love that character. We also had cup cakes! Josie's favorite character is Rebekah (which is actually from the Bible, not the Book of Mormon). Here she is dressed up as Rebekah, telling us the story of Rebekah at the well and why she loves her.

Another thing I love about Josie is that she is so kind and helpful (like Rebekah?). Jacob got started on dinner late last night, so Josie stayed with him as he finished so he wouldn't be lonely. She talked to him and made him happy while we cleaned and got everybody ready for bed. It's wonderful to see her take such an interest in her little brothers' happiness.

I also love that Josie works so hard. In school she always completed her homework, even when she didn't want to. She was also on the Student Council. This summer she got up early to go to swim team. She swam and swam and swam in that pool with Josh and their friends. She also works very hard to keep the home running smoothly by keeping things clean, organizing the toys, helping set and clear the table, and a bunch of other things that probably aren't her favorite.

Josie, it's such a blessing to have you in our family. We love you, Sweetheart!
